When The Levee Breaks Acoustic (2025): Fm/72
Alternate

This is my acoustic instrumental cover of When The Levee Breaks by Led Zeppelin. The original recording was ahead of it's time in some ways. Glyn Johns brought the Rolling Stones recording truck to a manor Led Zeppelin had rented called Headley Grange. There was a multi floor stairway where they placed John Bonham's drums and then put a couple mics above and captured the great iconic drum sounds. The original recording was done in Open G tuning but Jimmy Page slowed it down and it came out approx. Open F. Page also setup a couple tracks for Robert Plant's harmonica using lots of echo, reverb and some distortion. He then played some of the harmonica parts backwards on a tape while overdubbing the other harmonica recorded tracks. Page was very progressive with his playing and recording ideas.
