Morning Dew (2026): D/95
This is my cover of Morning Dew by Grateful Dead. I've loved this song since they first released it in 1967. It was originally written by Bonnie Dobson a Canadian folk singer in 1962 and was about the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust. A ruthless musician (Tim Rose) somehow added himself as a writer and received residuals for this (amongst other songs he ripped people off for) until a lawsuit in 1998 was won in Dobson's favour. After Robert Plant covered this song he talked about getting a knock on his door and Bonnie Dobson thanked him for covering her song and told him about Tim Rose. He made sure he funneled some of the money he received for his version to her and also appeared with her at a few shows which helped her reinvigorate her career.
